Labor declares strike starting Monday Jan 9th

This is not the best way to start a new year in Nigeria. Come on... We ended the year bad in Nigeria, with the bombing and the take over of Boko Haram. Now due to the increase in fuel price from 64naria per liter to 138 and even 250 naria in some places, the NLC AND TUC has declared a strike starting Monday, January 9th 2012. Since everybody don dey give ultimatum, labor sef don give the Federal Government their own ultimatum, to end the fuel subsidy. According to Vanguard Nigeria,  “After exhaustive deliberations and consultations with all sections of the populace, the NLC, TUC and their pro-people allies demand that the Presidency immediately reverses fuel prices to N65. If the Government fails to do so, they direct that indefinite general strikes, mass rallies and street protests be held across the country with effect from Monday, January 9, 2012.  From that Monday, January 9, 2012, all offices, oil production centres, air and sea ports, fuel stations, markets, banks, amongst others will be shut down,”.  Citizens were also advised to stock up on food supply, due to the longevity of the protest, which might take a long time.
Come to think of it, the Nigerian economy would loose much once this strike commence.
And the cost of living would increase, from transportation, to feeding, rent, and all But the salary of the average Nigeria would still remain the same.  Even if they have to increase fuel prices, not this outrageous amount na haba. From 65 naria to 145. If u have done the math like me, thats a wooping 80naria difference. President Goodluck and others, increasing the fuel price would not help the economy. Please think about the people who voted you in power. Even if you have to increase the cost of fuel, not this high nau, abi na wetin?
Rethink this policy please. We want a better Nigeria. Plus there are other pressing issues that need to be taken care of, you come add more petrol untop fire.

Solidarity for the boys

So protests begins in some part of London today, as some Nigerians have collected permission from the police to start protests. So my fellow sensible Nigerians, if some of you can protest for the legalization of Homosexuals in Nigeria, You can also come out and protest for the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
